How I Stopped Losing Restaurant Recs From TikTok
We've all been there. You're scrolling through TikTok at 11 PM, and a video pops up featuring the most incredible, cheese-pulling, life-changing burger you've ever seen. You immediately tap the "Save" bookmark. "I'm definitely going there," you tell yourself.
Fast forward three weeks. You're starving, sitting in your car with friends, trying to remember where that burger place was. You open your TikTok saved folder... and it's a disaster. It's a mix of dog videos, life hacks you'll never use, and 50 different food videos with no context on where they actually are located.
The Problem with TikTok's Native Save Feature
TikTok and Instagram are discovery engines, not organization tools. When you save a video natively, you aren't saving a location—you're just saving a video. To actually go there, you have to watch the video again, hope the creator mentioned the name, open Google Maps, type it in, and save it to a list there. It's too much friction.
My Fix: Map-First Saving
